Hypebeast celebrated its 20-year anniversary the only way it knows how: in style, with its core community. The 60 White Street exhibition – open for four full days – was home to a series of communal events and, of course, a slew of limited-edition collaborative goods crafted in tandem with some of our key brand partners.
The celebrations kicked off last Wednesday night, with an exclusive pre-party; roughly 200 members of the Hypebeast creative community got an early look at the archival ephemera in an intimate opening night. In an epitome of Hypebeast’s founding ethos, emerging and established designers, musicians, cultural tastemakers, and key trendsetters alike enjoyed an early introduction to the Hypebeast Twenty New York Exhibit before the space opened to the public on Thursday.

Guests were privy to a first glance at all 20 collaborative tees – Supreme, fragment, UNDERCOVER, Takashi Murakami, PROLETA RE ART, and Patta, included – as well as live music from New York City’s very own DJ group, Las Flaquitas.
Nostalgia was in the air as attendees reflected on early memories of Hypebeast and how the platform has informed their respective creative journeys, and shaped the streetwear zeitgeist at large.
Sleek USM furniture was scattered about the space – plenty of Hypebeast Magazine #36: The Platinum Issue copies resting on the modular tables – with Stone Island Sound also contributing to the spatial layout with its Friendly Pressure speaker set prototype, available to pre-order for purchase soon.

Ray-Ban offered up a limited release of its Mega Balorama wraparound sunglasses – just numbered 20 pairs, still available to cop on HBX – while Citizen Watch poignantly spoke to the passage of time with a commemorative timepiece. Umbro cooked up an all-black co-branded tracksuit, while Michelob ULTRA handled a monochromatic patched varsity jacket. Moet and Courvoisier kept everyone well-hydrated throughout the night.
On Friday, Hypebeast’s own inner circle communed at the exhibit for another intimate evening. With food from La Esquina and drinks from Dubliner, the team revelled in Hypebeast’s unwavering commitment to pushing culture forward, and toasted to 20 more to come.
Stay tuned for more information on when the exhibit moves to Asia.
