HUF has unveiled an inaugural collaboration with American footwear label G.H. Bass centered on the 1876-born brand’s Larson Penny Loafer.

Instead of reinventing the model with technical features or casual details, HUF conserved the recognizable silhouette, instead using innovative “chamelon” leather. Changing from a rich black to dark green over time, the special leather is produced exclusively by G.H. Bass in El Salvador. The manufacturer applies a wax coating that slowly reveals the green underlayer, while also providing the shoe with a soft feel and subtle luster. HUF and G.H. Bass continue the green hue on the interior and insoles and offer two sets of HUF “transit” coins in gold and HUF green.

Men’s loafer silhouettes and inspired styles have only grown in popularity since the classic shoe began experiencing a revival post-COVID-19. Up until 2022, many brands had swung far into athleisure and loungewear, given the serious lockdown measures and ongoing work-from-home shift. In 2025, the return of formality  — arguably supercharged by the Black Dandy theme of the Met Gala — has manifested largely in a loafer boom.

In 2024, New Balance reimagined the silhouette in complete running sneaker materials, PUMA linked with Palomo Spain for an all-white white sneaker loafer, and HOKA released the tasselled Speed Loafer. This year, Nike put Air Max units on the 2025 Phenomena loafer, Vans put a loafer upper on its classic skate soles, and KEEN transformed its UNEEK woven sneaker into an elegant loafer.
