Porsche has dropped a major hint about the return of the GT2 RS, the brand’s most powerful 911 variant, in its latest financial report. The company also confirmed the development of a new gas-powered SUV model that could enter the market by the end of the decade.

In the report, Porsche highlighted the continued evolution of its 911 lineup, teasing “highly emotive derivatives” and “high-yield and exciting limited-edition models.” Among these is an upcoming flagship model, described as one that will “raise the bar even further in the sports car segment.” This statement strongly suggests the return of the GT2 or GT2 RS, a model that last appeared in the 991.2 generation, delivering 700 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque from a twin-turbocharged flat-six.

If the GT2 RS does make a comeback, it will likely retain its traditional formula: a rear-wheel-drive setup based on the 911 Turbo, enhanced aerodynamics and extreme track-focused performance. While Porsche has not provided further specifics, the GT2 RS could arrive as early as 2026 or 2027.

Beyond the 911, Porsche is also expanding its SUV lineup. The brand confirmed it is evaluating a completely new SUV model that will feature combustion and hybrid powertrains. Unlike the all-electric Macan, which is set to fully replace its internal combustion counterpart, this new SUV will adopt a different approach. Designed to fit within Porsche’s high-performance DNA while utilizing synergies from its current lineup, the model could debut toward the end of the decade.
