Summary
Panerai has unveiled a new Radiomir 8 Giorni limited-edition timepiece, featuring Chinese indices to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year. This watch, which goes by the reference number PAM02088, also pays tribute to the Ref. 3646 – one of the Maison’s most emblematic watches – by reinterpreting its iconic California dial.
The California dial, famed for its distinctive mix of Roman and Arabic numerals, is reimaged here with a unique twist: Chinese characters appear at 4, 5, 7 and 8, while Roman numerals remain at 10, 11, 1 and 2. A black-to-anthracite gradient finish sets the stage for metallic blue burnished hands, achieved through a controlled oxidation process, while beige Super-LumiNova® X1 ensures legibility in low light.
At its heart, the PAM02088 is powered by Panerai’s P.5000 caliber, a hand-wound mechanical movement with an impressive eight-day power reserve, a hallmark of the brand since the 1950s. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement is engineered for durability, with a traversing bridge supporting the balance wheel for enhanced chronometric stability.
Its 45mm cushion-shaped case is crafted from Brunito Stainless Steel 1.4441 LVM, finished through a hand-applied process that brushes away a black PVD coating to create a weathered, one-of-a-kind patina. Completing the design is a dark green calf strap with a matching Brunito steel buckle, reinforcing the rugged yet refined aesthetic.
Limited to 300 units, the Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088 will be available through Panerai in the Chinese market later this month. In December, the timepiece will also become available in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. A later release in the US, UK, Switzerland and the Middle East is also confirmed for January 2026.
