Oceanside-based Chicano singer, songwriter Obed Padilla taps into the 90s with a modern summer flair in his new release “Broncos Y Benzes.” The track is a showcase of his Chicano roots, spanning Mexico, Costa Rica, and Southern California, as well as his love for classic hip-hop. Backed by a bass-heavy boom-bap drum break with screeching horns and an inviting pad arrangement, Obed Padilla takes the driver’s seat and takes us on a cruise with engaging and colourful rhymes that put us right in the middle of the action.
This release comes on the heels of his latest EP They Told Us There’s 2 Types of Mexicans – an eclectic, genre-blending collection of music featuring collaborations from Eddie Zuko and Austin Sexton that spotlighted Padilla’s distinctive fusion of Latin hip-hop. Alongside the EP, Padilla also recently released a free mixtape on Bandcamp called Minute Made Mixtape.
