norda is an undisputed master in the world of trail running footwear. The technical and material expertise displayed on the go-anywhere 001, the low-to-the-ground 002, the scramble-ready 003 and the ultra-advanced 005 have captured the hearts and minds of UTMB event winners, weekend warriors and techwear lovers alike.

However, even the most hardcore runners need to take a load off occasionally, so norda has created its first sandal: the 008, a style made for whenever you’re not running. Arriving in four colorways — “Sage,” “Oud,” “Hinoki,” & “Névé” — the 008 is constructed of plush dual-density foam that’s protected and bolstered by a custom Vibram Ecostep EVO outsole. All four colors feature a tonal aesthetic and minimal branding, with a simple embossed norda logo on the lateral forefoot. Sharp-eyed fans of the brand may also notice that the footbed’s pattern is similar to the one on norda’s outsoles, namely a custom assemblage inspired by the Canadian Shield, the largest and strongest pre-Cambrian rock formation on earth.

If you’re curious why the 008 is following the 005 and there’s no 006 or 007, norda’s product names are inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers where each is the sum of the two preceding ones. This sequence is related to the “Golden Ratio,” a mathematical concept that can be seen in various natural phenomenon.
