Maison Margiela has partnered with Alta Real Estate Development to open the first-ever “Maison Margiela Residences”, an extension of the brand’s artistic vision reinterpreted as an experiential living concept.
With architecture and design conceived by Maison Margiela and Italian architect Carlo Colombo, the completed project will have an exclusive collection of 24 bespoke units, “translating the Maison’s codes of deconstruction, trompe-l’oeil, and transformation into a luxury living environment.”
“Partnering with Maison Margiela allows us to push the boundaries of design and redefine luxury living in Dubai. These residences will be a testament to creativity, craftsmanship, and individuality,” shared Abdulla Al Tayer, Managing Director of Alta Real Estate Development, in an official statement.
The initiative continues Maison Margiela’s ever-increasing global presence and reach into non-apparel categories. The reveal of plans for Maison Margiela Residences at Palm Jumeirah follows the brand’s launch of “Line 2,” a new initiative dedicated to “intangible products” like art installations and cultural events. Additionally, Margiela’s recent campaign featuring Miley Cyrus further demonstrated its hopes to expand its cultural relevance.
However, Maison Margiela is not the only luxury fashion brand breaking through the real estate market. In August, Italian luxury house Armani unveiled plans to build its first-ever branded residences on the seaside of Ras Al Khaimah in the U.A.E. The trend can be read as a signal that fashion brands are increasingly searching for new product categories to counterbalance slumps in consumer spending.
Transforming “boutique living” by extending the House’s design philosophy into a physical space, the Maison Margiela Residences aim to merge its architecture, fashion, and lifestyle vision into an immersive branded experience.
