Hodinkee has collaborated with Maison Alcée to release their first limited edition partnership: the Maison Alcée Persée Fantôme Limited Edition for Hodinkee. This collaboration is part watchmaking course, part clock, inviting collectors to physically take part in the assembly and customization of a unique horological object.
Maison Alcée, founded by French engineers Alcée and Benoît Montfort, focuses on teaching people about watchmaking in a tactile, immersive way, a vision that resonated deeply with Hodinkee. This unique approach was recognized when Maison Alcée won the GPHG Audacity Prize in 2023.
The Persée Fantôme is based on Maison Alcée’s desk clock concept, which arrives as a kit containing 233 finely crafted components. The Hodinkee version incorporates several exclusive details, most notably a dark, moody aesthetic achieved by treating the stainless steel base with a ruthenium coating, echoing Hodinkee’s signature grey color. This dark tone is interrupted only by the perfectly polished finish of the striking bell, which chimes on the hour when activated. The clock is powered by an in-house manual-wound movement with an 18,000 VPH frequency and a substantial 14-day power reserve.
The element of customization is what truly sets this limited edition apart. The custom syringe handset, exclusive to Hodinkee, arrives unpainted, while the outer dial is prepared with a luminous treatment. This allows the collector to apply the lume by hand, leaving their own brushstrokes on the luminous glow.
Only 25 units of this limited edition will be made, with 20 available globally online and five reserved for Watches of Switzerland’s SoHo showroom. Priced at $9,900 USD, the Persée Fantôme is delivered in a rosewood presentation box with a 150-page instruction manual, video tutorials, as well as access to a dedicated WhatsApp support group.
