When Lupe Fiasco isn’t busy slicing random objects with a katana like an experienced Samurai on Instagram, he is busy putting together some of the finest syllable combinations and ideas. Once again, he has proved the sharpness of his blade by revisiting his last album Samurai and creating a new sonic home for verses on ‘Samurai’ and ‘Palaces’ from the 8-track project.
Lupe comes forth with what he calls “beautifully alliterated little battle raps” for the listener. Only this time, he has Troy Tyler with him to keep him company with a polished, more refined and palatable sound. The album is a classic, no doubt, and the new spin only goes to show that the right lyrics can shine anywhere.
Only about a year back, Lupe was in the conversation around Kendrick Lamar and their shared approach to intelligent writing. Lupe was quick to declare then that he isn’t scared of rapping against anybody, only to find his proclamation ignored by Kendrick, who had more pressing mainstream entertainers to attend to. Still, the fact is Lupe is in that conversation; hear for yourself!
