Released in August 2025, KPop Demon Hunters was a massive phenomenon upon its direct-to-streaming debut on Netflix, quickly becoming the platform’s most popular film ever. Its success extended beyond streaming, with original soundtracks like “Golden,” “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” becoming Billboard Hot 100 mainstays and generating buzz for potential Grammy nominations.
Co-director of the film, Maggie Kang, has previously expressed enthusiasm for a sequel, noting that the first film intentionally left a lot of unanswered questions and unexplored plotlines, suggesting rich new material for the 2029 installment.
