Multi-talented singer Joya Mooi brings vibrant colours to our ears in her newest release “Technicolour,” which sees her teaming with Chicago rapper Ric Wilson and South African duo Easy Freak. The result is a modern electronic/R&B/soul infused jam with a dash of hip-hop. Bolstered by rich and shiny synths, punchy pulsating bass-driven rhythms and lush textures, the track sees Mooi reflecting on the effects of comparison and reminding us to find love and contentment within rather than letting others steal our joy. Lines like “You make me green with envy/Can’t define what’s in front of me/Blue skies, resist all control/Your eyes open windows/Polluted with other seeds/Growin up,Two fallen stars hope you keep,Moving up/Wished you would make it after me/Good luck/No send after read” set the positive tone of the track. Mooi’s sultry vocals and catchy melodies run the gamut while Wilson steps to the podium and delivers a stunning verse as well.
