Subtle Radio resident J-Man makes his debut on Fortune Signal with the ‘Cut 2 Size’ EP this June, following music on labels like Taipan Trax and 2-DeltaDelta. The title track, ‘Cut 2 Size,’ is a bright cut with old-school vocals and a filtered dark-edge bassline, while bubbly synths add colour and soul. It’s followed by ‘Sequence’, which brings plenty of groove via its lively, high-speed rhythms shot through with flashy neon arps.
Remixing J-Man’s ‘Cut 2 Size’ EP first is Faux Poly label co-founder Danvers, one half of Kassian, who’s released on prominent labels like Heist Recordings, Phonica, Groovence, and K7 Records. His version of ‘Cut 2 Size’ warps the low ends and chops up the vocal, turning the track into a moody party starter. The second remix comes from Brooklyn-based Fortune Signal co-founder Quantreau, who debuted on the label in the summer of last year. Here, he flips ‘Sequence’ into a punchy broken beat gem with myriad different synth sounds and textures, all adding captivating machine soul.
