Summary
G-REX and Rotterdam-based rapper Meiiny have come together for a new collaborative EP, split signal. The project blends G-REX’s bass-heavy production with Meiiny’s melodic sung-rap, and showcases a diverse range of genres including reggaeton, hyperpop and classic Detroit bass music.
The EP clocks in at approximately 15 minutes with a total of six tracks. It features three singles that explore different facets of the artists’ combined sound; “i hate pictures” is a reggaeton-infused track with a club-ready energy, while “margielas & lipstick” delivers an anthemic feel. The final cut, “reverse psychology,” takes a more emotive approach, blending pop and hip-hop elements. The EP marks a new creative direction for G-REX, who’s expanding his focus on vocal and rap-centric music.
“This project is something really special because I feel like it’s me & Meiiny delivering a boundary-breaking statement. We are both on very different paths on our journey as artists, but we came together to make something special & brought our sound together in a way that we both are beyond proud of,” G-REX said in a statement.
