Ferragamo Reimagines the Roaring Twenties for SS26

British designer Maximilian Davis continues to steer Ferragamo on a sharp upward trajectory. At just 29, the creative director marks his third year at the helm, reshaping the storied Italian house into a beacon of contemporary luxury.

Ever attuned to Ferragamo’s century-spanning archives, Davis once again mines history for Spring/Summer 2026. This season, he journeys back to the brand’s origins, immersing himself in the exuberance of the Roaring Twenties. A single 1925 image of silent-screen star Lola Todd set the tone, igniting a study of extravagance and excess.

“I was interested in how certain materials, prints, and textiles were imported from across Africa and the Caribbean into America and Europe to become a sign of status,” Davis explains. His vision reimagines the “Africana” Jazz Age with an archival precision and a modern bite, rendered through sharp tailoring and prowling animal prints.

The collection opened with a parade of speakeasy suiting — sleek silhouettes punctuated by broad lapels and tonal scarves. Leopard and zebra markings prowled across airy dresses and translucent blouses, while striped formalwear arrived ready to party. Flapper-worthy fringe shimmered under the runway lights, juxtaposed against Harlem Renaissance zoot suits and slick leather neckties: a decadent ode to the golden age of dandyism.
