I noticed that they say 16bit 44.1k is very common, but they can work with almost anything.
That being said, somebody mentioned that they always do 24bit 48k when sending to DistroKid. The reason being is that Apple Music can play that format on certain playback systems, so if it’s possible, why not submit that to have the best quality option where it can actually be played?
That logic seems to make sense to me, but then it got me wondering; if other streaming services change that or can’t play 24bit 48k, then what happens in that case? Does DistroKid convert the file and send to many different platforms, and if so, how are they converting it? Or,
do the platforms convert it on playback? How does that work? I’m curious because I feel like I see a lot of people here only talking about sending 16bit 44.1k.
