Summary
Christopher Ward has released the C1 Jump Hour Mk V, marking the fifth generation of the brand’s mechanical jumping hour wristwatch series. This model is a significant revival, bringing back the legendary Calibre JJ01 – one of the brand’s first in-house complications -which powers the instantaneous jump hour function. The JJ01 module, named after its designer Johannes Jahnke, has long been a technical darling for the brand, with its successful architecture laying the foundation for the movement used in Christopher Ward’s acclaimed C1 Bel Canto chiming watch.
Housed in a 39mm stainless steel case, the new C1 Jump Hour distinguishes itself with a striking four‑layer dial construction, available in two distinct colorways: “Noon Blue” and “Dusk Gold.” At its center lies a disc stamped with concentric circles, surrounded by brushed and polished metal rings, and topped with a sapphire minute track that creates a floating effect. The current hour is displayed at 12 o’clock through a lumed disc coated in Super‑LumiNova Grade X1, while additional lume elements include a Globolight ceramic ring beneath the sapphire track and a transparent sapphire minute hand – the brand’s first cantilevered sapphire hand – also filled with luminous pigment. Together, these features create a vivid after‑dark spectacle that emphasizes both technical innovation and visual drama.
Available now through Christopher Ward’s official website and retailers, theC1 Jump Hour Mk V is priced at $2,975 USD on Italian leather straps or $3,165 USD on the Consort bracelet.
