It’s been a month since Nike SB’s poppy field-inspired SB Dunk Low made in collaboration with The Wizard of Oz hit the market. While the pair comes with removable layers that unveil a red ruby base, it turns out that the team actually produced an entire colorway dedicated to Dorothy’s ruby slippers. It may not be the movie-worn pair that sold for $28 million USD at auction last year, but this pair is sure to fetch a pretty penny on the secondary market.
David Toole of Bluetile Skateboards in South Carolina was the first to report the special find after a customer unboxed what they thought would be The Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low from last month. His exciting unboxing video reveals that within the pair’s normal blind bag packaging was a never-before-seen “Ruby Slippers” colorway that is covered in red-orange sequins. The all-red presentation even nods to Dorothy’s dress with its blue lining while special insoles were prepared as well.
For those looking to get their hands on this rare The Wizard of Oz x Nike SB Dunk Low “Ruby Slippers” colorway, it looks like select skate shops that are releasing late inventory of the collaboration may have this pair hidden within the packaging’s blind bag, good luck on the search and happy hunting!
