Summary
Each of Brigade‘s garments acts as its own ode to the brand founder’s heritage. Aaron and Sarah Maldonado truly wear both their New York City birthplace and Puerto Rican/Dominican heritage on the brand’s sleeve, drawing direct design and global creative inspiration from across all five boroughs and beyond.
The Hypebeast Community Center alum is now taking it to the big leagues – and technically, out of the city to East Rutherford, New Jersey – for its first major sporting collaboration with the New York Giants.
Landing in celebration of the Giants’ Latino Heritage Month, the four-piece range is an effortless amalgamation of the ethos and brand motifs of both collaborators.
Guided by a “Nueva York” theme, the drop spans a zip-up hoodie with “Neuva York” on the back side, a printed vintage pennant button-up, printed viscose short sleeve, and a Championship T-shirt.
“I grew up in a Giants household, so being able to treat this collaboration in the same way we approach every collection at Brigade felt really organic and powerful,” Aaron Maldonado said of the collection.
“We start a lot of our design process through personal references, and in this case, we were able to reference archival photos of our designer’s uncle, who was wearing Giants merchandise on the streets of Brooklyn in the 90s.”
Cop a piece from the Brigade x New York Giants drop now at all MetLife Stadium home games, and at Brigade‘s webstore.
