AAPE Opens Shinsaibashi Store Launching Exclusive Chibi Maruko-Chan Collection

AAPE BY A BATHING APE® continues its expansion in Osaka with the grand opening of AAPE STORE SHINSAIBASHI, located in the city’s iconic fashion district. The new store marks AAPE’s second Osaka location, strengthening its presence in western Japan’s vibrant streetwear scene.

The two-story, 2,900-square-foot space presents a futuristic retail environment featuring a sleek Alusion™ aluminum foam façade and dynamic circular LED displays. Inside, the minimalist interior combines gray concrete floors with warm wooden louvers in AAPE’s signature camo pattern, while a floating Moon Face light installation serves as the store’s centerpiece. The space also features a unique art piece “AAPER ALDO” by Japanese artist Tomotatsu Gima, crafted from upcycled cardboard sourced globally.

Celebrating both the store opening and the 35th anniversary of the beloved anime series, AAPE unveils an exclusive collaboration with Chibi Maruko-Chan. The collection includes purple and red Moon Face t-shirts featuring Noguchi-san and Chibi Maruko-Chan characters, along with matching tote bags—all incorporating AAPE’s iconic camo patterns. The pre-launch begins at AAPE STORE SHINSAIBASHI on November 2, with global release following on November 20.

The grand opening weekend featured special appearances, blending fashion, storytelling and captivating performance art. Attendees were given the rare opportunity to meet the iconic Chibi Maruko-Chan character at an exclusive meet-and-greet session, where they could have their photo taken with her using a Polaroid camera. The excitement escalated further with a surprise performance by the internationally acclaimed dance group Avantgardey, whose high-energy choreography mesmerised the audience.

Alongside the collaboration, AAPE introduces an Osaka-exclusive collection featuring pink camo designs and local cultural motifs including Takoyaki and Samurai themes. The store will also offer special gifts with purchase, including a 3-in-1 charger and collectible keychain available exclusively at the Shinsaibashi location.

The new store will carry AAPE’s complete Fall/Winter 2025 collection, featuring menswear themes of “AAPE CHASING DREAMS,” “AAPE STREET PULSE,” and “AAPE REBEL HEARTS,” alongside womenswear collections “AAPE COLLEGE” and “AAPE SKATE.”
