Summary
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of BEAMS, the Japanese retailer and Polo Ralph Lauren have officially unveiled the reissue of the legendary “JAPANORAK.” Previously teased by designer Daku Nishiyama earlier this month, the return of this archival piece has already generated significant interest among collectors.
Originally released in 2010, the Japan Anorak draws inspiration from 1930s winter sportswear. This official reissue faithfully retains its classic aesthetic, including the prominent Japanese flag on the front pocket and heavy-duty metal hardware. While the look remains heritage-focused, the construction has been updated with a smooth, durable fabric tailored for modern lifestyles. An internal co-branded tag further distinguishes the historic collaboration.
Complementing the outerwear is a special-edition cotton chino cap. The accessory features embroidered national flag motifs alongside the BEAMS logo and will be available in classic navy and white.
The JAPANORAK is priced at ¥141,900 JPY (approx. $920 USD), with the matching cap retailing for ¥16,500 JPY (approx. $110 USD). The collection launches January 31 at BEAMS Japan, followed by an online release on February 2.
