A posthumous album from D’Angelo is in the works, as confirmed by his longtime peer and collaborator Questlove.

He revealed the news in a recent interview with The National News Network, “You’ll see soon. With him, it’s always the sound of yesterday but for the future. And this record is no different. So when it comes out, you’ll know.” No additional information, such a release window or guest collaborators, were revealed.

In September 2024, Raphael Saadiq told the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast that the late artist was in the studio. “D’s in a good space,” he stated. “He’s excited. He’s like, ‘You gotta play bass. I’ve got this track. I’m telling you, you got to get on it. It got your name all over it.’”

He continued, “He’s working on six pieces right now and he seems super excited.”

The music icon died about a month ago, with his family confirming cancer to be the cause of death. He was 51 years old.
