In a groundbreaking milestone for racing, Formula E has revealed its most advanced car: the GEN4. With an assortment of upgrades, the model is set to bring precise movement and a newly experimental edge to racetracks, making the sport more nail-biting than ever before.
Prioritizing speed and efficiency, the GEN4 offers 450kW of race power paired with an active all-wheel drive and unlimited traction control to transform how drivers attack corners and maneuver. A 600kW Attack Mode, 700kW of regenerative braking, and a 55kW race energy capacity continues to boost performance, unlocking increased strategy and greater risk-taking.
As for its dynamic design, two key aerodynamic configurations give teams the option to switch from a high downforce to a lower downforce for different track conditions. These adaptable features, along with its core bodywork, are 100% recyclable, in keeping with Formula E’s commitment to driving sustainability in sport.
Ahead of its debut in the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season, the car will now enter testing phases with manufacturers Porsche, Nissan, Stellantis, Jaguar, and Lola Cars. As well as finding ways to incorporate their own racing innovations, they are set to use the car as a template for future designs, using the breadth of technologies as inspiration in road vehicles.
In an official statement, CEO of Formula E Jeff Dodds reflects on the arrival of the new model, sharing, “The GEN4 is far more than a race car. It represents over a decade of progress, innovation, and ambition in electric racing.”
He adds, “Co-developed with the FIA, it stands as the most advanced, demanding, and sustainable machine we’ve ever built, redefining what’s possible in performance and environmental responsibility. With GEN4, Formula E strengthens its position as the world’s most forward-thinking sport and a true racing pioneer.”
