IWC is continuing its tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year with the limited-edition Portugieser Automatic 42 Year of the Horse. This new timepiece marks the beginning of the Year of the Horse, which commences on February 17, 2026. In traditional Chinese culture, the horse is a potent symbol of spirited, uplifting energy. It’s also associated with strength, success and the courage to pursue new goals.

Presented in a 42.4mm stainless steel case, the timepiece boasts a rich burgundy dial. Inspired by the auspicious red tones of Lunar New Year celebrations, the watch features a stunning burgundy dial with the characteristic and well-balanced Portugieser design. The dial is finished with golden hands, Roman numerals and appliqués, featuring the small seconds display at 9 o’clock and the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, complete with a discreet date window at the 6 o’clock position.

Powering the timepiece is the IWC-manufactured 52011 caliber. This automatic movement utilizes an efficient Pellaton winding system with ceramic components, enabling it to build up an impressive 7-day (168-hour) power reserve in two barrels. A true highlight of this limited edition is the gold-plated rotor, visible through the sapphire case back, which is meticulously crafted in the shape of a galloping horse to pay direct tribute to the Lunar New Year.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the Portugieser Automatic 42 Year of the Horse’s price is available upon request via IWC.
