Dubfire has ruled over the global electronic scene for decades. He is a top-tier DJ who plays only the most celebrated clubs and events and heads up his own influential SCI+TEC label, where he has constantly innovated within the techno realm. His latest outing comes alongside Argentinean star Flug, a fellow veteran and long-time mainstay who has released on vital labels like CLR, Soma and Suara. Between them, there is little this pair hasn’t accomplished and they show off their considerable skills across two innovative new tracks for Mind Medizin.
Opener ‘Redacted’ is a stripped-back but highly potent techno track with driving drums and sleek synth lines that flash by like headlights on the highway. Smart filters toy with tension levels, and the arrival of thunderous claps and raw hi-hats ensure an even more compelling trip. The equally excellent ‘Plasma’ is a more bulky and musical cut with stomping drums and coarse hits from the off. The pulsing synths add urgency as the uncompromising drums power onwards beneath dramatic warped pads and intense percussion.
