For Spring 2025, Alfred’s Apartment returns to its roots with “Garage Days,” a nostalgic yet forward-facing editorial that reimagines Australian surf culture through a contemporary wardrobe.

Shot inside the garage of a Gold Coast surf veteran, the setting alone tells decades of stories: resin-stained walls lined with boards from the ’70s through the ’90s, shaped by legends like Nev, Town & Country and Brothers Neilsen. Parked alongside is a 1986 Subaru Brumby, a symbol of friendship and freedom, evoking the boom years of Australia’s coastal counterculture.

But Garage Days isn’t simply a homage; it’s a bridge between eras. Alfred’s Apartment layers its current collection of tees, headwear, and legwear against this backdrop of cultural relics. The result feels both familiar and renewed; a fusion of heritage and modernity, surf history and streetwear sensibility.

Since opening in Mermaid Beach in 2012, Alfred’s Apartment has evolved from a curated menswear store into a community hub, complete with a flagship space, cafe and even a golf offshoot. Through “Garage Days,” the brand underscores what has always been at its core: surf heritage, storytelling and a distinctly Australian spirit.

The “Garage Days” collection is now available online and at Alfred’s Apartment’s Mermaid Beach flagship.
