Starbucks Japan is diving deeper into the matcha trend with the return of its Kyoto Matcha Latte drink.
The offering makes a comeback in celebration of the 20th anniversary of pre-made Starbucks drinks. SoraNews24 reports that Starbucks retained the milk selection from the drink’s original release in 2008, but updated it with a higher concentration of matcha for a richer flavor. The drink’s design also remains the same, and arrives with a matching green straw.
For a food and drink combination, Starbucks suggests to have the drink with a tuna mayonnaise rice ball. Its nori seaweed and tuna “enhance” the rich flavor of the matcha, while the mayonnaise elevates the milk. A steamed cheesecake is another recommendation from the coffee giant.
