Aēsop is set to release its latest Eau de Parfum, “Above Us, Steorra” — a new fragrance that casts amber in an uncharted light. Conceived by long-time collaborator Céline Barel, the fragrance was born of an abstract trio of inspirations: a poem by Mayuzumi Madoka entitled “Shooting Star,” a photograph of the night sky and the shifting hues of fossilized resin. Drawing on the star-dusted ceiling of Aēsop’s Collins Street boutique in Melbourne, Barel crafted a scent she describes as “Celestial Amber” and feels both incandescent yet subtly subversive.

Described by Aēsop as a “new expression of amber,” “Above Us, Steorra” opens with vibrant sparks of bergamot, radically unfiltered cardamom and peppery elemi, evoking a meteor’s fiery trail across a cool void. Its heart unfolds in rich, resinous layers of Cypriol Heart, labdanum and frankincense, before returning to a spicier, woodier cardamom accent. A rum-like vanilla bean undercurrent rekindles the amber warmth in the base, creating a modern expression that moves between bright spice and deep resin.

By dialing down sweetness and powders in favor of amplified woods and resins, Aēsop delivers an amber accord alive with movement and depth. More than a perfume, “Above Us, Steorra” is a fragrant fable in Aēsop’s storytelling tradition — an invitation to pause, look skyward and ask, “Shall we trust in the unknown?” The “Above Us, Steorra” Eau de Parfum launches globally on September 1, available online and at Aēsop boutiques, retailing at $200 USD/$1,500 HKD.
