Darby and OOTORO Join Forces on Hedonistic Bassline Collab “PARTY” on NIGHTMODE

July 27, 2024 -

Aussie sensation Darby and Indonesian house maestro OOTORO are ready to put sound systems to the test with their new collaboration. “PARTY” is a low-end lover’s dream, equipped with a beefy UK garage beat whose lyrics are laser-focused on chasing a good time. The female vocal hook loops relentlessly, boasting a life-in-the-fastlane lifestyle while what feels like a wall-to-wall club energy tears through the track. Weighty basslines, pounding leads, snappy 808s bits, quick climbing arps, and B-boy style vocal chops are weaved together masterfully to create a knockin’ groove, which only helps convey that the hedonistic hook is living its truth.

Australian-bred producer Darby is known for excelling at examining the cross-section between pop and electronic music, consistently refining his genre-blurring sound while retaining an air of euphoric nostalgia. He is coming off his recent debut on the label with “TRUST,” which drew support from Acid Stag, Canadian Ravers, IHouseU, and Perspective on Life. He’s being tapped to provide direct support for 33 Below at Howler, has an upcoming festival appearance at Rolling Meadows, in addition to recently providing support for Slumberjack’s AUS tour.

OOTORO, on the other hand, is a Southeast Asian producer that’s become one of the hottest house exports from Jakarta. He’s been hammering out a slew of club-focused tracks, taking cues from disco, tech, and bass-heavy house music. He previously graced the label with his single “Acide,” garnering support from ACRAZE, Wax Motif, 3LAU, and Richard Vission. On the touring side, he’s coming off festival plays at Beyond Wonderland and Project Glow, following a string of dates as support for the mighty AC Slater.

“‘PARTY’ is a deep dive into the exhilaration of nightlife. OOTORO was the perfect collaborator to fully realize the aggressive punchy mix that this dance track needed. So, we paired those seductive lyrics with a pounding breakbeat groove and speaker-blaring bass stabs. The current buzz around the UK and Australian club scenes has definitely deeply inspired this sound.”–Darby

“I like to go out and I like to party.”–OOTORO
