Today, Grammy-nominated artist Porter Robinson released the music video for the third single ‘Russian Roulette’ from his highly anticipated third studio album SMILE! , releasing July 26th via MOM+POP. The six-and-a-half minute song presents a departure from the album’s first two singles, laden with social commentary on the paradox of modern artistry, internet culture, and celebrity. The single is poised to be one of Porter’s most sincere and vulnerable songs to date, beginning to present the form of the full length – a record seemingly as up-tempo and accessible as it is shadowy, honest, and avant-garde.

In ‘Russian Roulette’, I’m trying to reconcile those fantasies against the real responsibilities that hang over me. And then it gets dark, and light all at the same time,” says Porter about the track.

The video for ‘Russian Roulette’ furthers the track’s mission by stitching together found-text sourced across social media comments and editorial content to present the lyrics through the mediums that they are examining. The result is a high-energy visual journey into the ethos of the artist.

At age 18, the North Carolina-based producer and songwriter burst onto the scene with a complex, bombastic brand of electro-house.
