Can you introduce yourself to the people and tell them a bit about yourself?
My stage name is Kollah Bone. I’m a hip-hop artist, music producer, songwriter, and audio engineer. I was born in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, and raised by my great-aunts in a religious household where we attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. My introduction to gospel music sparked my lifelong relationship with sound, but it was my sister’s music collection that drew me to hip-hop.
How would you define your sound, and which artists or experiences have influenced your creative direction?”
I would describe my sound as a rich blend of Caribbean rhythms, American trap, and melodic rap. My lyrics are a blend of raw storytelling infused with island slang, which I attribute to my West Indian roots. Influences like 2Pac, DMX, and Lil Wayne helped guide my lyrical
direction by basing my content around loyalty, struggle, ambition, and perseverance.
How did you get your start producing music, and who are some of the artists you’ve worked with so far?
My journey in music production began in my teenage years after I discovered Fruity Loops Studio through a cousin. Being self-taught and driven, I started producing for local artists and co-founded the beat-making group DBK (Da Beat Kings) alongside George “G-Wattz” Martin and Rodrique “G-Bone” Richardson. I’ve produced music for Daz Dillinger, Young Jeezy, Cyhi The Prynce, Yung LA, Magazeen, Money Mark Diggla, and Alfamega.
You’ve come close to landing a few deals throughout your career. Can you tell us about them?
In 2006, I was in negotiations with Def Jam Records, but unfortunately, the deal fell through after the untimely passing of executive Shakir Stewart. In 2014, I was offered a development deal with Cash Money Records, but I declined due to some contractual issues.
Tell us about Omnitune Records and your role in the company.
In 2024, I launched Omnitune Records, an independent Caribbean label based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. As CEO, I’m involved in artist development, audio engineering, songwriting, and visual direction. The label’s mission is to amplify Caribbean-rooted talent while bridging cultural and musical genres between the islands and Europe.
What’s next for you in 2025? Do you have any new music on the horizon?
I’m gearing up to drop my next record called Pain in My Soul. People who’ve heard it are calling it my most vulnerable and powerful record to date. I’m excited about this release and can’t wait to share it with everyone!
