Week 4 brought another nail-biter, with the outcome resting in the hands of a single judge. Pendulum Ink University and New York Firehouse both came out swinging, but only one could come out on top. Let’s see who took the win!
With Pendulum Ink University securing the win, we caught up with Showrocka, our team MVP, for a recap.
Congratulations on the win! How do you feel about the overall performance of your team in Week 4?
It wasn’t as decisive as I would have liked, but I know where our strengths and weaknesses are. In the end, it was a delicate balance of showcasing the techniques we are so heavily invested in and giving the crowd /judges the witty one-liners they crave. Its almost like, “here’s the greasy pizza, but I’ll be damned if we don’t put these veggies on top.”
You delivered a well-executed reverse punchline in this match-up. Was that a deliberate choice to showcase the advanced curriculum taught at Pendulum Ink?”
Absolutely. I actually had another verse written with more punchlines, but I said, “Let’s represent the Ink and show what we can do…what makes our team unique.
We just got word that Pendulum Ink University bowed out for the remainder of the season. Does that include the playoffs as well? Care to elaborate?
Yes, Pendulum Ink has withdrawn entirely from the competition. We’ve still got love for the platform, but I don’t think it was a good fit for the school. The time commitment on our end is probably better spent building our community and refining the hip-hop lexicon through education.
